How can I refrain from talking about this hot air balloon festival? Well, last Saturday, B dragged me out of bed early in the morning and we drove to Putrajaya to catch the festival.
We got there around 7am and there were tons of cars and people already by then. Just so you know, this hot air balloon showcase was of international and local exhibitors. And my point was that even we got there at 7am, all the passes for photographers were out (yes, apparently, you need a pass to get into the setup area, where most balloons sat on).
Anyhow, we still manage to get “up close and personal” with two other balloons outside of the confinement. Around 7.30am, all the balloons were up in the air, flying to their designated landing zone. We literally chase the balloons on foot, across the large field and lake. Soon, the balloons were out of sight by 8am, we wandered around and took a cruise ride, which costs Rm15 per pax. The ride was nice but I wished it was longer than 15 minutes.
Oh, by the way, the sky was a little gloomy during the take-off, so it was a pity…but all in all, a great escape for an early morning!
Taking off..I know it looks like it, but we weren’t speeding… It’s the Wall Street! I HEART NEW YORK! Setting up
The source of the hot air
Just in case you haven’t seen it before, here’s how the hot air balloon ‘basket’ would look like on the inside The oh-so-important anchor DSRL-erssssss…. Waiting for disaster to happen…but none did, not that I know of One guy, holding down the gigantic balloon. It’s finally inflated! *KISS KISS* ^^ B & I Dokomon says “hi” Both of the balloons were tied to ONE tree. Note the little helium balloons and the DSLR-ers. And look at those big hot air balloons… Sponge bob says he wanted to break free & fly too~ The FIRST balloon to be up in the air~ *yum* juicy much~ *wink wink* Chasing the balloons all the way down to a lake Stunning, isn’t it?More balloons…balloons balloons…
Remember the time when I said DSLR-ers have many funny poses? Point proven.
One of my favourite balloon, look so cute with the sleepy eye…
Roar~The Dark Vader, the star of the event… B ^^ “We were there” Levi’s jean balloon. It didn’t fly though, but looks cool anyway. The one on the left is from NZ. Taking the river cruise.
The river cruise is almost entirely covered with tinted glass, so passengers get the panoramic view at all times The interior of the cruise ship, it was damn nice, man. Chilling~ The house by the lake /river Doko hiding~ *deep breath* it’s all better now~
Well, that wraps up my morning. Erm, until I get back to lakeside at 10am and had to work on the model again. Until then, a great beginning of a day~ CHEERs! =)
One funny thing by the way, by the time we got there, we were literally squashed by all the DSLR cameras. Fumbling with my canon among those more advanced camera makes me feel so awkward and ashamed at the beginning. But then, you’ll get used to it, SOONER OR LATER. Seeing one dude with two DSLRs is not big deal there, add in some expensive additional lenses, there you go, you’re in the hottest photographing event. Anyhow, I still believe, moments in life that takes your breath away can too be captured with a normal digital camera, just like mine. ^^
With love,
KC
